I had a friend that I used to go kayaking with. He was a SOLID boater. He had a 100% roll and regularly paddled class IV and some class V rivers. He and his wife had their first baby a couple of years ago and he had to step away from kayaking for a little while.
The last time I went boating with him was on the Nantahala last year. The Nantahala is only really a class II, III river, so I thought it would be a piece of cake for my buddy who hadn’t boated in only 10 months. Right out of the gate, the first rapid we hit, he flips, tries to roll twice, misses both attempts to right the boat and swims.
Did you hear what I said, my buddy, who was an AMAZING boater, got out of the environment of kayaking for only ten months, and then screwed up the first rapid he hits and has to go for a swim.
Consistency in kayaking, and in your spiritual life, matters. It’s possible to get “it” and then, through a change in your environment, to not get “it”. And don’t miss this,It’s because of the environment you’re in. Check out the principle laid out in Psalm one. Keep your ears open in Summit over the next month to find out the best environment!![]()
