Ready… Set…. STOP!

Psalms 46:10 is amazing! If you’ve been in Summit any, you’ve probably heard me talk about this verse in the Bible before. Here is what it says:

“Be still and KNOW that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

If you’re family is anything like mine then your summer is already getting pretty full. Your rundown probably is pretty similar; camps, retreats, vacations, ball games, more camps, church activities, more ball games, visiting family from out of town, more church activities… and on and on the list goes. Here are two things to hang on to throughout your summer.

  • Stop some stuff! I can hear the groans now, and yes I know how difficult that is. There is this amazing little english word that can really help us out with this. Say it with me. I know you’ve heard it before… “NO!” Practice this word and use it some.
  • In the midst of going, keep your focus up. Check out the story of Elijah in I Kings 19:8-17. Notice in the midst of all the activity, Elijah heard God in the whisper. So when you can’t or shouldn’t stop some things, keep that razor sharp focus on God and his voice.
